WORLD'S LARGEST KHADI NATIONAL FLAG HOISTED IN INDIA LADAKH


The country's largest 1000 kg Khadi tricolor was unfurled on a high mountain in front of the Leh Valley to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti and 75th anniversary of India's independence. The world's largest Khadi tricolor weighing 1400 kg, 225 feet long and 150 feet wide was unveiled in Leh. The unveiling of the world's largest tricolor was completed in 49 days. This tricolor on the Zanskar hill in Leh is of Khadi and made by hand. It occupies a space of 37,500 square feet. This tricolor has been made jointly by the Khadi Development Board and a printing company in Mumbai. To hoist it, 150 soldiers of the Engineer Regiment hoisted the tricolor on their shoulders and took it to a height of 2000 feet above the ground. It took the soldiers two hours to reach the summit. This flag is the world's largest hand woven Khadi flag ever manufactured in India.
